Horseriding and trekking in Killarney
Fancy a quiet horse trek through Killarney National Park, or perhaps a gallop along a quiet beach along the Wild Atlantic Way? You’re in the right place…
Take a morning to go trail riding in Killarney National Park. 1, 2 and 3 hour treks are available from Killarney Riding Stables, located just outside Killarney town. The treks bring you up to a high point close to Cnoc an Rí in Knockreer from where you can take in the impressive views of Loch Léin, Killarney’s Lower Lake. From here you can enjoy the full panorama of the Kerry mountains from the Paps to the east, right across to the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks to the west. Riding hats and boots can be supplied by the stable.
Across the other side of town, Muckross Pony Trekking Centre provide horse trekking for all ages and abilities through the quiet woodland of the Park. Novice riders will be accompanied by a guide on foot while experienced riders will have a mounted guide. See www.killarneyponytrekking.com for more details.
If you would prefer a fresh beach trek, Rossbeigh Strand just off the Ring of Kerry hosts invigorating alternatives with Burkes Beach Riding Centre. Burke’s provide trail riding through the spectacular scenery that surrounds Rossbeigh to a gentle ride along the beach.
The Dingle Peninsula provides another opportunity with Long’s Horse Riding Centre. Long’s provide a range of treks on mountain, beach and both. Trek along the water’s edge on Ventry beach, outside dingle or explore the Mám an Óraigh mountain trek or, indeed, enjoy the best of both worlds with their Beach and Mountain Ride.

Wow! This place exceeded our expectations! We really enjoyed our stay. Nicola and Donal offered a beautuful private get away for the weekend. Its extremely clean and has everything you need. Their home is truly beautiful and I would highly recommend staying here again.
